Nighthawk: Frozen Hearts-Part 2The next day, I sat in the cafeteria of Bay City High School, picking at the rubbery spaghetti and meatballs on my lunch tray and ignoring the slight twinges of pain from having my wings folded in so tightly to my back. Across from me sat my best friends, Zack Hawthorne and Danielle “Dani” Bennett. We’d been friends since elementary school, and they were the only people aside from my father that I trusted with my secret.Nighthawk: Frozen Hearts-Part 2 by mattanimaniac
“So how was last night, DJ?” Zack asked excitedly. “Anything big happen?” Although not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer, Zack made up for it with impressive athletic ability and, to be perfectly honest, a decent amount of charisma and good looks. All he had to do was smile at a girl, with his big hazel eyes, tanned skin, and brown crew-cut hair, and she’d faint. Ironically, he wasn’t too interested in girls; he was more concerned with keeping his grades up.
I nodded. “Somebody’s been going around

I sat there on the red leathered chair, while many people crowded me with their happy smiles, and I looked out the window to find snow falling beautifully onto the ground. People walked past me as they spoke to each other, and the minutes felt like hours while I sat there nervously waiting for him.
He told me he'd be here tonight, and still I haven't seen him since earlier today. He hasn't called or texted me. Not even to tell me he'd be late. I felt nervous while my palms felt sweaty and cold. I stared back at the front door hoping he'd burst through the door with that perfect smile he'd always give me before we'd share a kiss.
"Piper are you alright?" Pixie my twin sister asked me with a frown.
"I-I-I'm fine." I growled in response trying to hold back the tears that I wanted to release from my eyes.
"Oh...alright." she walked away, as I felt the need to tell her why I was upset.
While I kept staring at the door, Dick walked over to me, he was wearing a leather jacket, blue shirt, and
Nighthawk: Frozen Hearts-Part 1A girl walked through the rain-soaked streets of Bay City, her black boots splashing through puddles on the sidewalk. The hood on her white jacket was pulled up, concealing her face. Her pace was swift and deliberate; anyone that got in her way was shoved aside by her black-gloved hands. Despite the warm weather, her breath came in clouds. After a few minutes, she reached her destination: a warehouse owned by Lockwood Electronics. She paused and looked up at it for a moment or two before entering, her hands curling into fists.Nighthawk: Frozen Hearts-Part 1 by mattanimaniac
“Revenge,” she muttered to herself, “is a dish…best served cold.”

I soared over the city’s skyline, riding the air currents like a roller coaster and doing a few flips and spins. It was at moments like this I loved having wings. The wide-open skies and the wind in my hair were so exhilarating. As I passed over the industrial district, though, I saw a few police cars and ambulances parked outside a warehouse. Angling mysel
Nighthawk: A Nightmare in Bay City-pt. 4 (FINAL)Without a moment’s hesitation, he sliced at me with his claws, and I jumped back to dodge it. Almost automatically, my wings snapped open, but Freddy was unfazed.Nighthawk: A Nightmare in Bay City-pt. 4 (FINAL) by mattanimaniac
“Ooh, scary!” he snarled mockingly.
He then shoved me up against a wall, holding his claws inches from my face. “Penny for your thoughts, Nighthawk?”
I smiled sarcastically. “I can’t take you seriously with that goofy sweater.” With that, I hit him in the stomach with my knee, and shoved him back into some pipes. When he regained his balance, I could see the rage on his face. I beckoned to him in the universal “Come at me, bro” sign. “The party’s just starting,” I challenged.
Freddy raised a claw and pointed at me, lifting me off of the ground and into the air. He grinned maliciously, and sneered, “Then let’s boogie.” He moved his hand quickly to the right, sending me flying into a large pipe. As I shouted in pain, he moved it to t
Nighthawk: A Nightmare in Bay City-pt. 3That night, I met Ripken on the roof of the police station. “I got your message,” he said as I landed. “Who are we dealing with?”Nighthawk: A Nightmare in Bay City-pt. 3 by mattanimaniac
I told him about the dream, and how the wound I received in it was there when I awoke. When I finished, Ripken just stared at me, shock written all over his face.
“So it’s true,” he said quietly. “It’s happening again.”
I raised an eyebrow. “What are you saying?”
“When I was just starting out on the force, there was a string of murders just like this one,” he explained. “However, there was one that managed to survive. He said that it was a dream demon. Even pulled out this old brown hat; said it was the exact one the demon was wearing.”
“How’d he get it, then?”
“He said he grabbed it in the dream, and it was in his hand when he woke up,” Ripken answered. Having heard enough, I turned to leave.
“What’s your plan?” he
